Starting the Complaints

ONE THING I hope I managed to get through in my writing is how much I love this city. Did I say that? No? So to make it clear: I love this city! I love everything: the architecture, the history, the location, the people, the dynamics, the weather, everything!
But there is something that bothers me…

Strasbourg has one of the most important (and beautiful) cathedrals in the world. It started in 1015 (that's right, THOUSAND AND FIFTEEN!), And for 400 years it was the tallest building in the world.

And like any self-respecting Cathedral, it has bells. Many bells! More bells than you can imagine!
And what is the purpose of a bell?

That's right

To ring.

"Ah Giovanna, but church bells are so wonderful to hear, stop complaining!"
No, no.
We are not talking about the bell of some small church (which also has many here). We're talking 'bout the bells of one of the largest cathedrals in the WORLD. Where the ringing of its bells is considered one of the most perfect in Europe.

I'll explain how it works:

Church bells ring hourly to (obviously) mark the time, right? Okay.
the Cathedrale of Strasbourg, it marks the quarter-hour!

Bells have historically existed not only to mark time, but to be a tool for communicating with the population. There is a universal catalog of church bell tones, so that, no matter where you are, you can understand what's going on. There is a touch of time, mass, wedding, baptism, death, 7th day mass, invasion and so on ..

Honestly, the church bells don't bother me that much. You get used to it. The problem is that he plays every day. From 06h to 22h. All. The. Days.
Even on Sunday.
Sunday, on God's day (I think), God's house won't let me sleep until noon, won't let me sleep until 10… at 9 am I'm getting up crying, and for those who know me a little bit, know that I am not a morning person. The house of God wakes me every 15 minutes, and I have the faint impression that on Sundays the bells are louder and longer.

Why?
Why my good lord?
Every Sunday I ask: WHY?

With all this drama done weekly, I thought and had 2 responses that calmed my heart:

1: Perfection is also irritating
2: A church is not the house of God, it is his phone.
