HOW IS A CITY WITH BICYCLES CALLED?

This weekend I read an article that didn't surprise me but that is very positive, and it fell right on with something new in my day.

Strasbourg was voted the most cycling city in France. Is it cycling that speaks? Cyclable? "I don't know, I just know it was like that." This news is not surprising when we see the huge amount of bicycles and cyclists in the city. There are many! But many, my people! Do you think that Santos has enough? No, no ... here's the triple. Easy! If you tell me you have the quadruple, I believe it! It's A LOT of bikes!

In fact, this new position of the city reinforces a policy adopted (after COP23 - climate conference held in Fiji in 2017) that, from 2018 to 2050, the city uses 100% renewable energy. And that covers everything: from transportation to central heating for houses and apartments in the city. And apparently the city is engaged in this goal, as the new buildings already have technologies that reduce energy expenditure (don't ask me how) and the city is increasing its bike lanes to encourage the use of bicycles.

And the whole context favors the use of bicycles: here the climate is more stable, the infernal heat lasts a maximum of two weeks, so outside the weather is pleasant, the city is flat, has a lot of bike paths, the cars respect and stop for cyclists and everyone uses a bicycle, from the owner of the company to the janitor, there is no distinction. And this is very good, because after all, the bicycle is an exercise, so the quality of life also increases in cities like this, apart from that it is sustainable!

Well, we saw some positive sides of the city regarding bicycle use, and they are great, aren't they?

But know that, even in the spring, not everything is flowers.

Agora alguns pontos:

1. I came from Santos and, what happens when you are walking on the street and hear a bicycle noise coming after you? His whole body stiffens because the chances of being a robbery, let's face it, are pretty big. You get cold and tense. Now think about spending two months walking down the street and having that feeling every 10 seconds! It was a mini heart attack every time I heard a bicycle coming. And I promise you, it's one every 10 seconds!
2. People ride their bicycles daily and everywhere (even for dinners and theaters, they go tidy AND on bicycles), this means that they feel very safe on this means of transport. This means that they will pass you by giving a half-millimeter thin on your side, or that they will close you while you are walking and you will be able to smell the citizen's shampoo, so close that it passed you. And when you've finally managed to overcome the phobia of having a bicycle coming after you, you'll start having mini heart attacks for the scares you take when one comes around.
3. Like any self-respecting city, bicycle thefts are very frequent. You attach your bike to a pole, go to lunch and when it comes back it disappeared. This is very annoying and I have seen several colleagues talking about having their bikes stolen. 🙁

Now for the last information, the most important of all:
I'm finally equipped with one! (yes !!! 🙂)
I can't give you my point of view as a cyclist because I don't even have 24 hours of experience. In fact, I was just very careful not to fall, because I'm not a well-balanced person, let's be honest! But for the first day, I can tell you that it was a very pleasant experience, especially when you walk down the street and feel the security that no car or bus will pass over you ...

Now Strasbourg, hold on! I'm going to run this entire city !!! 🙂

Now I need to give my bike a name ... I want something cool, but I'm in doubt if I give a person or object name ... Fabiola? Venus? Charmander? Escargot? Margot? I need help to choose !!! Help me !! And besides choosing the name, I will also ask for one more thing: let's all hold hands and pray that no one takes my precious !!! <3

Thank you, à bientôt e Perdoe o meu Francês
