10 songs to learn French

Learning French is not easy, I must admit. One tool that helped me a lot to improve my French was without a doubt music. Learning with rhythm and rhymes helps the brain to better code a lesson, so I immersed myself in French music.

During my studies, I always researched “songs to learn French” and always fell into the same options (it seems that all the sites copied and pasted each other)! It turns out that in the end we always get to know the same artists.

So I decided to create a list without copying anyone! With artists different from those you already know (Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Aznavour etc etc ...). And here goes ...

10 songs to learn french

1. BB Brunes – Coups et Blessures

BB Brunes is a rock band that was successful in the early 2010s. This song helped me a lot to train French because their verses are spaced and with simple grammar.

2. Camélia Jordana – Facile

Music out of the oven, Camélia Jordana also sings calmly and is very easy to follow.

3. Julien Doré – Paris-Seychelles

Julien Doré is the darling of many French women (and the French men too!)

4. Louane – Je vole

This song is hard to deal with, especially if you have someone in the family who has traveled far away.

5. Joe Dassin – Aux Champs Elysées

Joe Dassin! Ah, how happy I am that he recorded Aux Champs Elysées! You will never think of Champs Elysées again without thinking of him!

6. Bon Entendeur vs Isabelle Pierre – Le Temps Est Bon

This is a favorite of the French. So much that I can't take it anymore !!!

7. Vanessa Paradis – Joe Le Taxi

A great timeless hit from Vanessa Paradis!

8. Aya Nakamura – Jolie Nana

Okay, Aya Nakamura is an autotune show, and her lyrics are extra-commercial. But we cannot deny that they stick to the head!

9. Stromae – ta fête

Stromae does not have very easy lyrics for those starting out in French, but this is an artist that you NEED to get to know! He is my favorite French-speaking artist (he is Belgian).
His lyrics are social criticisms of everything: family, work, social networks, race, racism, diseases, et cetera. Their lyrics, videoclips, costumes and dance are of a unique quality! If it's an artist you want, it's an artist that I give you!
Unfortunately Stromae ended his career, but his legacy continues on the internet.
"Ta fête" is an easier song to follow for those just starting out, but promise me that you will see his ENTIRE work on your channel do Youtube .

10. Kendji Girac – Evidemment

This young and full talented gypsy is getting all young women crazy around here!

BONUS

Bigflo & Oli ft. Petit Biscuit – Demain

Bigflo & Oli. These brothers, sons of an Argentine and a French, brought the concept of rap consciousness back to France. Their lyrics make you think, feel and scream with them. As difficult as it is to accompany them singing, it is very good just to hear!

And you, how do you learn French? Leave in the comments which songs helped you in this process, and if you want a continuation of this post!

A bientôt and Pardon my French! ;)

Giovanna Rua

I'm that woman who sings "All I want for Christmas is you" for Christmas, shouts "Charlie Brown" after saying that comes from Santos and loves a coxinha. In other words, I do no more than my obligation.
